✖ INFOS: Created in the mid-nineteenth century, from the mixing of European dances with cultural manifestations existing in Brazil of that time, the Choro consolidated as a musical genre in the early twentieth century, and nowadays is one of the oldest Brazilian instrumental musical genre.
New composers of Choro appear throughout the years in Brazil, thus Choro schools and clubs were been created everywhere. A substantial number of young groups present in the musical scene of the Country led us to a broader and renewed development of this very significant genre of Brazilian Culture.
Formed by four experienced musicians, Elisa Goritzki (flute), Dudu Reis (cavaquinho), Daniel Velloso (7 string guitar) and Reinaldo Boaventura (percussion), the Patuscada was created in Salvador/Bahia in the middle of the year 2015. Each of the members brings both national and international experience, which allows a large exchange of musical ideas that has contributed to the inspiration and creation of new sounds and consequently new arrangements. The present proposal is to show how strong and catchy choro is, it has the influence of various different rhythms and sounds. The Patuscada also writes its own compositions, giving a contemporary approach to this so important instrumental Brazilian musical genre.
In 2015 the Patuscada was awarded with the “Project Arte em Toda Parte”, from the Gregorio de Mattos Foundation. Through this project the group made five concerts in the first half of 2016, in the town at Salvador – Brazil, all the concerts were free admissions. Also in 2015, the group received financial support from the Bahia Culture Fund FCBA-FUNCEB, to promote workshops and concerts in two cities in the countryside of Bahia: Serrinha, in partnership with the “Philharmonic Band June 30”, and in Feira de Santana in partnership with the “Philharmonic Band March 25”. In total, there were 10 trips made in the first half of 2016.
In 2016 Patuscada was among the 10 finalists of the Samsung E-Festival, in the category of instrumental music, with the song „Apanhou? Então Chore!“ by Dudu Reis, member of the group.
